Double Rooms Described, by Luxury Dorm Complex

Double Dorm Rooms are the “typical” dorm style and the most common assignment for University of Florida freshmen students in traditional dorms.  Luxury Dorms vary from the traditional dorms in that the rooms are significantly larger, newer, have luxury amenities (such as an improved furniture package) and often have attached bathrooms and kitchenettes. Doubles are ideal for students who do not want to have their own room, would prefer the social atmosphere of a double, or have a smaller budget. Doubles are significantly less expensive than single suites.  In luxury dorms, placement into the chosen floorplan is guaranteed with signed housing agreement (as opposed to placement in the traditional dorms, where dorm preference and room style are not guaranteed).

At the Ivy House, each Double room comes equipped with 2 closets (or one closet and a built-in drawer set), pedestal sink, 2 bed sets, 2 desk sets, window, mini-blinds, and pre-installed ceiling fan. All rooms include central a/c and plush carpeting. Bathrooms are located on the hall, shared with rooms next door. Bathrooms come equipped with jetted Jacuzzi tubs, showers, and large vanities. Bathrooms are cleaned daily by a maid service. The Ivy House is female-only. There are 4 styles of doubles at Ivy House, where the main difference is size/square footage; the smallest is the Drawer Stack Double, then the Select, the Elite, and the Premier.

At Windsor Hall, there are three sizes of Double Suites, and each double suite has it’s own attached bathroom and kitchenette. Students can choose between the doubles, which vary in square footage. The Double Suites include 2 captain’s beds (with built in drawers), 2 built-in closet, 2 mattresses, 2 desk sets, window, blinds and ceiling fan. The attached kitchenettes include a medium sized fridge with separate freezer, microwave, sink, kitchen countertop and cabinets.  The attached bathroom includes a sink, full-size bathtub and shower, and toilet.

Which Double Dorm is Right for You?

Both Ivy House and Windsor Hall are luxury dorms next to your UF classes, offering larger rooms at a lower cost than traditional dorms. The Ivy House only offers female-only dorm rooms. Windsor Hall has two dorm buildings. One is female-only, and the other building is co-ed (suitemates are matched by gender and personality).

The biggest difference between Ivy House and Windsor Hall is the bathroom style. Both guys and girls who would prefer to only share their bathroom with their suitemate should reserve a double dorm room at Windsor Hall. If you are a female and would prefer to share a bathroom with neighboring rooms, reserve a double dorm room at Ivy House. Windsor Hall rooms are also larger than the rooms at Ivy House.
